Arriving in Colorado

Pick up your rental car or book a shuttle and prepare for the scenic 1.5-hour drive west along I-70 climbing ~4,300 feet into the mountains. Be sure to check road conditions and traffic, as I-70 can turn into a challenge if paired with a wintery mix.
The Drive to Breckenridge
Once you leave the city, the landscape shifts to towering mountains paired with majestic towns. Stop in Idaho Springs for a historic lunch or take a quick break from the drive and soak in the mountain air and scenic views at Dillon Reservoir. - Option Two: Park in one of the paid gondola lots. From there, you’ll have a choice between taking a bus to the base of the mountain, or taking the gondola to Peaks 7 or 8.
- Option Three: Stay slopeside at the base of Peak 7, 8, or 9 and not worry about parking at all! Walk right outside your door and step onto the chairlift.
