What a busy weekend there is ahead!  Summer is officially here. There’s no shortage on events or things to do.  Celebrate Breckenridge’s heritage all weekend long during Kingdom Days, which concludes with the infamous Outhouse Races on Sunday. Get your fill of barbeque at the Frisco BBQ Challenge, take your first ride of the summer on the gondola and enjoy the opening weekend of the Peak 8 Fun Park or take a stroll over to the Riverwalk Center  for the opening night of the National Repertory Orchestra.  Oh, and all weekend, shops along Main Street will be having a sidewalk sale, so you can stock up on super-discounted winter gear!

This weekend’s events:

Friday, June 14:

9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Peak 8 Fun Park Opening Day! Zip down the alpine slides, ride the Gold Runner Coaster, take a 4×4 or Segway tour, test your skills at downhill mountain biking and more!  The gondola is back up and running for the summer season, so take it up to Peak 8 and have a fun-filled day!

11:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Frisco BBQ Challenge -Over 60 competitors from all over the U.S. set out to win the gold for best barbeque. From pig races, live music, celebrity chef demonstrations and more, this event is not to be missed!

4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – Local’s Alert:  It’s time for the Town Party at the Riverwalk Center! For the past 18 years, the Town of Breckenridge has been throwing a party for the locals to celebrate a winter of hard work and to kick off the summer!  Live music by You Me & Apollo. Admission is free, food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Saturday, June 15:

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.- Frisco BBQ Challenge -Last day to get your hog on!

Kingdom Days:

11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. – Riverwalk Center- Plenty of children’s activities, games, magic show, and other entertainment.

Blue River Plaza- Located next to the Welcome Center at 203 S. Main Street, you’ll find more to do such as free historical photobooth photos, free kids train rides, burro rides and gold panning.

7:30 p.m. – National Repertory Orchestra Opening Night- The NRO innagural concert is this Saturday at the Riverwalk Center. From this weekend until mid August, the NRO will be performing two full orchestra concerts each week.

Sunday, June 16:

9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. -Sunday Market- The Breckenridge Sunday Markets begin this weekend and boasts specialty food items and crafts from around the globe. Head over to the south   end of town every Sunday morning until September 8th and pick up fresh produce and unique gift items.

Kingdom Days:

12:00 p.m. – Celebrate Edwin Carters birthday with cake at the Edwin Carter Museum.

12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. – Free concert by the Luv Brothers on 100 N. Main St.

12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m .- Face Painting and Balloon Artist

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.- People’s Choice Voting for best outhouse design at the corner of N. Main and Wellington (Next to Local’s Market at 116 N. Main St.)

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Outhouse Races – Bring a lawn chair and park it along the race route on Ridge Street and watch as locals and others from surrounding kingdoms compete to win the Golden Throne award for being the fastest in the West.
