Rick Tramontana, Breckenridge Grand Vacations Interval International Support Dept Manager: While Breckenridge hosts many great events throughout the year, I would say that the annual Oktoberfest is the best. This event is held on Main Street and offers great beer and food along with other various vendors who are in town. Due to the event usually being the third week in September each year, the weather is almost always perfect. It’s a great time to get out and celebrate this wonderful event with visitors and locals alike!
Dale Holland, Breckenridge Grand Vacations Director of Maintenance: I love the Corvette show. It is a real kick to see all the Vettes and talk to the car owners. If you’re a car nut, this is really fun stuff!
Steve Wilson, Grand Timber Lodge Maintenance Manager: Without a doubt, Oktoberfest!
Mike Millisor, President of Breckenridge Grand Vacations: No question about it, Ullr Fest. There are many great events such as the Snow Sculptures, the Great Rubber Duck Race, the Summit Foundation Golf Tournament, Fatty’s Golf Tournament and many more. Ullr Fest, however, is uniquely Breckenridge. I have watched the event change over the past 28 years, yet it is still the same. Not always the most family friendly event, but certainly Breckenridge’s own!
Ginny Vietti, Breckenridge Grand Vacations Director of Marketing: Oktoberfest! There is nothing like watching grown men in lederhosen try to polka without spilling their stein. Oompah bands, sausage and kraut – my belly takes days to recover but it is so fun at the time. It’s also bittersweet though, because it signifies the official end of summer. It’s great when we get the 70 degree days but we can just as easily have snow (or both in one weekend like 2008 and 2009).
AuBree Wagner, Breckenridge Grand Vacations Marketing Coordinator: I like the snow sculpting. It is truly amazing what talented folks can do with a huge block of snow.
Josh Stuhr, General Manager of the Breck Inn: I particularly enjoy being a little curmudgeon during most of the Breckenridge events, but come out of hiding for Oktoberfest. Not for the beer, but for the food. The Oktoberfest celebration brings out a slew of traditional German food vendors that create some true, authentic German fare. The schnitzel and brats cannot be beat and are worth fighting the crowds.
Brad Beverlin, Breckenridge Grand Vacations Director of Loan Servicing: I enjoy Oktoberfest in Breckenridge. I feel that the ability to enjoy downtown Breck when Main Street is closed is wonderful. There is a real spirit of celebration in the air and it serves notice to all that winter will be here soon!
So, it looks like Oktoberfest is the favorite for most of these Breckenridge locals.
